Building Service Contractors Association of Australia – WA (Inc)

The Master Cleaners Guild of WA, MCGWA was formed in 1969 to act as the “WA Cleaning Industry Voice” to Government and the Private Sector, establish training programmes, act as an independent “referee” when problems arose involving the Industry and to provide a forum for all those involved with the WA Cleaning Industry to present their goods and services. To this end a Code of Ethics was drawn up, which has since been further enhanced by the WA Cleaning Industry Code of Conduct, developed in conjunction with Department of Consumer Protection.

On 1st January 2004 the MCGWA aligned with the national peak industry body; but still maintains its original objectives as shown above, and became known as the

Building Service Contractors Association of Australia – WA Division (Inc)

BSCAAWA’s Divisions cover Commercial Cleaners, Carpet Cleaners, Window Cleaners, Window Treatment Cleaners, throughout the Perth metropolitan area and Country regions; plus there is a Division for Associates and Affiliates providing services to the Cleaning Industry.

The BSCAAWA is the only autonomous Western Australian Cleaning Industry Association; its Membership undertakes approximately 85% of all commercial cleaning done in WA. Its Members are one of the largest employers of West Australians and the size of their businesses range from small family operations through to the large multi-national organizations.

The BSCAAWA offers clients help in tender preparation, evaluation and ongoing monitoring of contracts plus acts as a mediator if problems arise, ensures training at all levels is available to Members & their employees and through its meetings, publications & communications provides an extensive network for those involved in the Industry to “stay in touch” on issues ranging from public liability to occupational, health & safety and tender selection criteria to sponsoring industry related Awards.

At the “Local” Level - BSCAAWA has a working relationship the WA Local Government Association and its Members throughout WA.

At a State Level - BSCAAWA works closely with many Government Agencies, including, the Departments of Treasury, Education, Training, Employee Protection, Consumer Protection, Health, Worksafe etc.. Plus makes representation, on behalf of the Industry, to the State Premier and Ministers on appropriate issues.

In the private sector BSCAAWA works closely with such organizations as the Property Council, REIWA etc.

At a National Level - BSCAAWA has a seat on the national board of the Building Service Contractors Association of Australia, which makes representation to the Federal Government and the public & private sectors clients at a national level.
